Waterbury
Rolling Mills (WRM) was founded in 1906 to produce what was classified
as “refractory grade” copper alloys. Throughout our history
we have specialized in the manufacture of Phosphor Bronze, Nickel Silver,
Cupro-Nickel and Copper-Nickel-Tin Alloys. In addition to manufacturing
the 100, 200, 300, 400, and 700 series copper alloys, WRM has positioned
itself as a premier producer of the 500 series, or Phosphor Bronze, alloys
used by the electronics and telecommunications industries.
The
facilities of New Haven Copper Company, founded in 1845, were added to
the organization in 1984 and have undergone extensive modernization. Olin
Brass purchased the combined organizations in 2001 to further establish a larger
presence as a phosphor bronze supplier and add recently developed high
performance alloys to OlinBrass’ portfolio of alloys.

Today
these modern, efficient facilities are ISO 9001 and QS 9000 certified.
In various steps throughout our operations Statistical Process Control
methods are used to monitor and control process steps. This, along
with inspection by highly trained production personnel, assures
our customers of the highest quality. |

Our
production operations have modern, fully equipped metallurgical
laboratories performing all testing to ensure compliance with customer
specifications. We will also work with customers to develop testing
programs to meet special needs. All testing equipment is appropriately
calibrated to factory and NIST traceable standards. |

Some
of the primary markets we serve are: electronic connector contacts,
terminals and conductive springs, washers, automotive and machinery
bearings, electrical apparatus, battery contacts and terminals,
thrust washers, switch and relay contacts and electrical wirings
devices. High Performance Alloys, C4252, C5118, and C5218, manufactured
at Waterbury Rolling Mills, have been developed to address commercial
and performance needs required of our diverse customer base. |

To
reduce downtime between coils Traverse Wound Reels in various weights
up to 4000 pounds are available. Should the application require
plating Waterbury Rolling Mills can provide electroplated, Tin,
Tin/Lead, 100% Tin Reflow and various precious metals. Commercial/Mechanical
Wipe and Hot Air Leveled Tin (Halt) coatings can also be supplied
in Tin or Tin/Lead compositions. Inquire with Waterbury Rolling
Mills for more information on platings and typical thickness ranges.
