In May, 1916, the first bar of metal was cast at the Western Brass Mill founded by Franklin Olin in East Alton, Illinois. Since that day, the Olin Brass organization has broken new ground in the research, development and delivery of "tailor-made" copper and copper alloy products. Through continuous expansion, modernization, diversification and strategic acquisition, Olin Brass is one of the world's leading organizations in the specialty metals industry.

Today, the Olin Brass organization utilizes more than 60 copper-based alloys, including over 15 High Performance Alloys, to produce specialized sheet and strip products for diverse industries. Primary markets for our high-performance products worldwide include automotive, builders' hardware, micro-electronics, communications, ammunition and coinage.
